It’s contest time, and my very first one, too! As you probably noticed, I love hieroglyphs and Ancient Egypt. What you may not know, though, is that I studied Middle Egyptian at the university, so all hieroglyphs in my comic have actual meanings. This contest will run once in a while for your entertainment and to spread a bit of knowledge about the amazing Middle Egyptian hieroglyphs. Ready?
On part 3, page 34 of The Green-Eyed Sniper (and earlier in the comic), two hieroglyphs are shown in the first panel, on a hospital sign next to Sekhmet. Above them, the writing Exit. I’ll give you a couple of big hints for this first contest: these hieroglyphs form a single word and they could be used to mean “entrance” as well.
Here are the possible options:
- Escape
- Gate
- Door
- Arm wrestling
- Turnstiles
Either send me an email at [email protected] or leave a comment here with your guess (your email will remain hidden to the public) by 30 June. If you guessed correctly, you will receive my July updates for The Green-Eyed Sniper at least 3 days earlier than their release dates! One guess per person only! Multiple winners allowed! Sounds good? Here’s your chance!
